Son1’s first sandcastle made with no help. Sunny day restoring my spirits. Tuesday group and the reminder that the sun has been shinning all along behind the clouds. Reminders of God’s work for good in the storms of life. Being outside without a coat. Beautiful book of children’s prayers called ‘imagine’ given to me by the lovely Alison (sample below).

‘O Lord, if life is stormy, I imagine I’m a tree, tossed and tumbled in the wind, and you show me how my roots are going stronger.’

‘O Lord, if I’m sad, I imagine I’m a seed curled up close in the arms of the earth and I know that soon the sun will come out to warm me.’

‘O Lord if I’m tired from too much thinking, I imagine I’m the sky, clear and bright and empty.’

Grateful for being able to drive and having a car on dull cold afternoons when the baby isn’t sleeping and the toddler is uber grumpy. A sleeping baby and a distracted toddler counting through tunnels. Remembered to be thankful rather than feel rubbish because I didnt cope with them in the house all afternoon.

I know every one of these posts for the  last week has had the word sunshine in them but I can’t help it. My body and soul even more this year have been longing for light and spring. It’s coming in glorious wonder. After a long dark winter with a newborn it’s beautiful to feel the light and warmth of the sun on our skin. To know there is hope. To feel the light growing stronger each day.

Also- heading out to a national trust property with friends this afternoon. Masses of snowdrops and crocuses. The hilarity of the kids playing Harry Potter, wands out and spells loudly cast all over the place. Son1’s delight in running outside, stones and collecting sticks.

discovering the hidden treasure 🙂

Egyptian themed party at Mum and Dad’s for the eldest nephew (gingerbread mummies and amazing pyramid cake featured above- well done Roz!). Hanging out with the family all day. Cuddles from the niece. Hugs from Roz. The sight of three small boys laughing, giggling and running around the garden in the warm spring sun together. Connection and proper chat with the excellent husbandface on the drive home. That deeply refreshing sense that God is up to something.

Sunny day. Hanging out with the boys. The flat full of pretty music thanks to First Aid Kit. Not being scared by an afternoon with not much in it. Prospect of a curry with my favourite and my best tonight.
